Quote of the Week 8-31

When Husband and I were in Charleston Sunday, we were walking around the Market and came across a t-shirt shop.  There were several funny t-shirts hanging in the windows.  You know, ones with funny sayings or pictures on them.  Ones that are all the rage with the kids these days.

Anyway, one of the funniest ones we saw and probably have ever seen was green and had a tractor on it.  It read:  I don’t need a tractor to pull hoes.

Words to live by.

Quote of the Week

Husband and I have been keeping up with our reading of the what to expect book, and over the weekend, we read about week 34 of pregnancy, which we have just completed.  Only 6 weeks left.  Whoa!

Anyway, we found out in our reading that this is the week our boy’s testicles are making their way down from his abdomen to their final destination:  his scrotum.

After I thought about how sweet it is that our little boy is growing in my belly and will be here soon, I laughed and laughed at the word scrotum.  Hilarious.

Quote of the Week

Being in our house is so great.  Last night, I sat in the nursery for a few minutes and realized that’s what I’ve been needing.  Time to anticipate.  Time to be excited.  Time to soak in all the quiet and normal before the baby comes.  There are only approximately 63 days left to do that, and Husband and I are already exhausted.  I guess a weekend of non-stop stuff really catches up with ya at some point.

Tonight, I hope to do a little unpacking and maybe some relaxing.  I’m not asking for things to be done and to have a full-blown restful period.  I’m just saying that like Dierks Bentley I’d settle for a slow down.

My Muse

Wildflower never ceases to amaze me with her ability to inspire.  Whether she’s here or in another state or wherever, there’s always some type of knowledge or wisdom to be gleaned from her.  For example, today, we have been talking about how every day brings another challenge, and it’s important for us to focus on the good side of those.  Like maybe instead of worrying about all the things we have to do or why we have to do them, we would focus on how far we’ve come and how the end is in sight.  Ya know, all that BS!  I kid.  Sort of.

During our back-and-forths, she let it slip that these are tough tranny times

Scccrrrttt!!!!!!!!!

That little nugget of enlightenment caused the earth to stop spinning and me to double over with laughter that could only be compared to a sonic boom.  These ARE tough tranny times, kids.  Remember that when you are going through some stuff, and I promise it will make you feel 1,000 times better.

Watermelon

I don’t know if it has to do with thirst, the baby, or just the sweet taste of deliciousness, but I have not been able to get enough watermelon in the last month or so.  I crave it like nothing else.  Craaaave.  Like a ravenous beast.  Okay, maybe I’ve been reading too much vampire-o-rama, but still, I must have it.

During vacation, I wasn’t able to have any, so Sunday, when I went to the grocery store, I bought one.  I was pumped.  As soon as I got home, I cut into it only to find the worst yuck ever.  Rot.  It even smelled bad.  I could have cried, but I’m a strong, independent woman who doesn’t have time for tears, so I just stuck my bottom lip out and went straight to Husband.  Should I call the grocery store?  Waaaa Waaa Waaa.  Whine whine whine.

That baby sure gets cranky when he wants something.

Husband being the best hubby in the world went to the store for me later and got a new one plus a refund.  Thanks grocery monopoly of Charlotte.  Even though your prices are ridiculous, that was nice of you.

We just had some tonight after dinner, and it reminded me of a quote I read in O during our plane ride home.  I think it about sums up my priorities in life.

One of the nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.  –Luciano Pavarotti
