Today, some friends and I hosted a baby shower for Pard. It was held at my house, which was borderline insane given that Husband and I have only lived here for a few weeks. But, I would not be denied. It was a must to hold the shower here, and it went off without a hitch.
One of the highlights of the shower was the way we decorated. After having a couple showers and attending some as well, I have realized that one doesn’t need to spend a lot of money or do something fancy to make a shower wonderful and special. Today, we had minimal decorations, but they really made an impact and were, of course, presh.
First off, flowers. They are one of the cheapest ways to spruce up a room, and for a shower, they can be used as a centerpiece or just to add a little something to other spaces. We had a couple small vases around the room, and one larger bouquet on a side table like so.

All we did for the bouquet was put it in a silver pitcher, and it was instantly chic and a perfect accent.
The centerpiece for the food table was another inexpensive and unique idea. One of the girls took 3 boxes in 3 different sizes and wrapped them in paper that matched the theme/colors. Then, she cut cute, kiddie figures out of cardboard, painted them and attached them to the sides of the boxes. You could also just buy premade cutouts instead of making your own.
For the top, she made a bow, and there you have it, easy centerpiece that can stand alone or be used for food or other decor. We used it as a food and cupcake stand and added candles.

Husband and I are still in the market for a new front door, so when Hot Legs brought a diaper wreath to hang, we had to find another home for it. I wasn’t about to draw attention to that door, a project I’ll share with you all later. So, instead, we hung it from the mantle. It’s a focal point of the room and ended up being better than hanging the wreath outside. Since all the gifts were placed around the fireplace, the wreath made an impact as a decoration along with the gifts.

The last bit of decoration we had was our gift. We are nothing if not resourceful. The hosts had decided to do a group gift for Pard, which included a gift card and one year of baby outfits and extras such as bibs and sippy cups. We hung little rings, that can later be used as toys for baby, from a ribbon, hung the ribbon on the banister at the back of our living room, and hung everything from the rings or ribbon. It was one of the cutest displays ever.

I was pleased with the shower, and most importantly, Pard had a great time. Congrats and love to her and baby on the way!
Hey, those are pretty great ideas!
